IBC 2016: Atomos bringt Shogun Inferno

Im April war der Shogun Inferno Thema auf der NAB. Nun ist der Monitor-Recorder in greifbare Nähe gerückt. Auch hat Atomos nun mehr Features bekanntgegeben.

Noch diesen Monat wird mit der Auslieferung begonnen, so verspricht Atomos auf der IBC. Der sehnlichst erwartete Shogun Inferno Monitor-Recorder glänzt mit einigen neuen Features:

Schon bekannt ist das 1.500 nit helle 7-Zoll-Display und der 10-bit-Farbraum. Über die QuadLink SDI und HDMI 2.0-Schnittstellen erfolgt die Aufzeichnung in 4K 60p oder HD 240p, in HDR Log und RAW. Die AtomHDR engine mit mehr als 10 Blenden Dynamikumfang erlaubt das Begutachten des Materials in Punkto Belichtung zuverlässig, das helle Display ermöglicht eine Arbeit ohne Sonnenschutz.

Neu hinzugekommene Features, die auch als kostenloses Update ab Q4 2016 zur Verfüghung stehen sollen, sind:

• Die Aufzeichnung in ARRI RAW, diese erfolgt über eine Solid State Disk nach Kundenwahl, die in das Master-Caddy-Gehäuse eingefügt wird. Die 16:9 und 4:3-Formate können so in nativem .ari gespeichert, die Verwendung von SxS-Modulen umgangen werden.
• Aufzeichnung in Panasonic RAW. Dieses Feature komm Varicam-Nutzern zugute, die zwar bereits das interne Atomos ProRes recording module nutzen können, aber nun auch extern als CDNG auf den Shogun Inferno speichern können.
• Support der HDR-Standards PQ (ST2084) und HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), auch auf externen HDR-Monitoren.
• PQ und HLG werden auch beim Input unterstützt, so dass mobiles HDR-Grading auch bei nichtlinearen Schnittsystemen möglich wird, aber auch von Kameras unter anderem von Grass Valley, RED, ARRI (PQ) oder Ikegami (HLG). Ein Output erlaubt das Anschließen externer Monitore.
• Eine Playlist-Funktionalität erlaubt es, Material in gewünschter Reihenfolge und zu festgelegten Zeiten abzuspielen. Dies ist zum Beispiel hilfreich für Live-Events.
• Ebenfalls hinzugekommen ist der HDR-NLE-Metadaten-Support: Daten wie zum Beispiel Belichtung oder Blende werden gespeichert, so dass sie, nachdem sie am Set mit Hilfe des Shogun Infernos überhaupt erst ermittelt wurden, im Grading für die Weiterbearbeitung des Materials genutzt werden können.

Ebenfalls neu von Atomos sind die AtomFlex 4Kp60-HDMI-Kabel, die die 60p-Framerate unterstützen. Rein äußerlich sind sie durch robuste Gestaltung für die unschöne Behandlung an einem Filmset geeignet. Es gibt sechs verschiedene Modelle: Full to Full HDMI, Micro to Full HDMI und Mini to Full HDMI in jeweils zwei Längen, nämlich 30cm spiralisiert (60cm gestreckt) und 40cm (80cm).

Eine Partnerschaft mit G-Technology, einem Hersteller für Speicherlösungen wird es erlauben, SSD-Laufwerke im Master-Caddy-Gehäuse zu belassen und über einen G-Technology ev Series Reader in der Atomos Master Caddy Edition auszulesen. Hierzu ein Imagefilm:

An “Workflow Improvements” benennt Atomos folgende Verbesserungen für die Benutzer folgender Kameras. Wir zitieren:

For Arri users the simple 6G SDI connection with Alexa Mini and Amira unleashes the full capability of the sensor, monitoring a HDR image perfectly engineered for Arri log. Additionally, by recording Arri raw externally to the native .ari format you gain an incredibly affordable recording solution. For example, a 256GB SxS memory card, which is typically $1700 can be replaced with the same capacity SSD for less than $100.

For Panasonic Varicam users who already have internal HD recording to Apple ProRes, the Shogun Inferno offers higher resolution 4K Apple ProRes and AVID DNxHR in 10-bit quality. It also doubles as an affordable solution for recording raw and will benefit from the calibrated 7” 1500nit monitor, which with AtomHDR perfectly displays V-Log in HDR quality.

For Sony FS7/FS700/FS5 users the raw output in their camera can be put to work, recording high frame rate footage onto affordable media without the license cost found on other recording solutions. Additionally, the 1500nit brightness will enable hood free outdoor shooting and monitoring of Slog2 and Slog3 in HDR to let filmmakers confidently set exposure, shooting in log as it will be seen in post-production.

For Sony F5/F55 users the QuadLink SDI connectors provide a direct and convenient connection to a monitor-recorder that opens up access to the media affordability of the Master Caddy system along with the premium HDR monitoring that can be used with the Slog2 output.

For Red Epic/Dragon/Scarlet users, Apple ProRes offers a great proxy recording option with file name along with the dramatic improvement that the 7” 1500nit monitor makes for focus. For accurate exposure, the Red Log or ST2084 output lets you activate HDR on the Shogun Inferno for accurate HDR imaging.

For Canon C300MKII/C500 users the raw output offers the only way to record 4K resolution without paying for licensing fees and delivers Apple ProRes and AVID DNxHR recording, HDR monitoring and an affordable media solution. For the new C700 camera from Canon, the Quad 3G SDI connections allow for higher frame rate 4K 60p ProRes recording to affordable SSD media along with the HDR and High Bright monitoring advantage that comes with using the Shogun Inferno

Wie schon im April angekündigt, wird der Shogun Inferno im September für 1.995 Euro netto verfügbar sein. Die Kabel kosten jeweils 95 Euro in der kurzen und 149 Euro in der langen Version, beides netto, beide ab Ende September verfügbar.

Der Master Caddy von G-Technology wird bei SSD für 256 GB mit 149,95 US-Dollar, für 512 GB mit 249,95 US-Dollar und für 1 TB mit 349,95 US-Dollar zu Buche schlagen, bei HDD für 1TB mit 99,95 US-Dollar. Das Lesegerät ev Series Reader Atomos Master Caddy Edition gibt es ab September für 99,95 US-Dollar. Alle US-Dollar-Preise dürfen als netto verstanden werden.
